Missing my boys :(
Our Crazy Trip to Canada!
First off because of our temporary move to GR this summer I unfortunately had just brought all our important docs to Amy's. This included the kids Birth certificates :( Well we called the border in the UP and they said as long as both mick and I were with and had our birth certificates it wouldn't be a problem (later we found out different) Then the morning we are leaving mick decides to tell me he also left his BC in Grand Rapids (my good ol mickey always prepared!) We headed out in hopes of Amy being able to fax it when we got to Port Huron (border town to Canada) While there and on the phone with Amy I received a fax at the local Kroger that was blank. Amy "oops, Ill resend it, I placed it upside down." Amy again "ahhh sh*$ aaahhh the fax is eating his birth certificate aaahhhh!!!" Me "sure amy nice joke hahah is it working did you send it yet?" Amy "no seriously I cant even see it anymore!" After the news that the birth certificate is in shreds we decided to press our luck and continue on as we were already vested into this trip, new clothes, gas to Port Huron, reservations at a bed and breakfast, wedding gift etc. At customs we were directed to the Canadian immigrations office for lack of documentation were they did a background check and told Mickey he is not able to enter the country unless paying 200.00 (Reasons not to be publicly displayed, don't worry he's not a felon LOL!) They gave him is "papers" and we now have 2.5 days to get in and get out! So now we are down a birth certificate a couple hundred bucks and about 2 hours of time. The wedding starts at 4:30 we got to our Bed and Breakfast at ten minutes to 4! Got everybody ready and headed out. We arrived at the wedding 10 minutes late. However it was a Jewish wedding and they like to drink a bit first so really we weren't late at all (this may be a first for us!!) To my surprise we got there and had to be separated, woman upstairs men down stairs. "WHAT!? I don't event know anybody!" OK i did know 2 other girls there and thank god I found them right a way!!! Did I mention were were the only ones with kids ! Oh and Mick also forgot all of his suits in Grand Rapids so he was the only Man with out one! (my good ol Mick always prepared) Needless to say we STUCK OUT! The kids were great and didn't misbehave once. After the culture shock of a Jewish wedding (did you know that the men dance with the men and the woman with the woman all night long?) It was a nice time and back to the B&B at about 1130pm. We saw a cop across the street and asked if we could park on the street over night. He replied, "Yes but only until 8am" No problem we would be up and heading to Niagara falls by then anyway. 815 out the door it was a quick stay at the B&B owned and operated by Micheal and his "partner" Micheal cooked Mickey some mini hard boil eggs and told him "their cute, and fun!!!" in that oh so not strait voice. hahahah
Can you believe we had a parking ticket!!!! AAUGH! Stupid Canadian cop! Yeah we could park there over night if we had a PERMIT!!! AAAAgh! Another unexpected expense. We made it to Niagara falls by 12 or so and had a lot of fun seeing the falls. Kyan was very impressed (he has always had a love for water fountains and this was the mother load!) We took a boat tour down at the bottom of the falls with with kids. It was like being in a hurricane and we had to wear ponchos. Pie had a baby one that was adorable. (I will post pics later...mick has them in GR and I am still in Ypsi) We then ate dinner in the space needle tower in a revolving dining room over looking the falls, it was a great view but we got ripped off on the food. We were told kids 3 and under were free. Not a bad deal we thought. Soon to find out it was only the ride to the top NOT the 13.00 a piece grilled cheese sandwiches (ripped off eerrr!) we dropped 100 bucks on a meal that was not worth that much!!!. Well we had to head out quick because we had a 4 hour ride ahead of us and I needed to work at 7pm. Oops not enough time so I suggested an alternative route of Canadian highway 3 instead of backtracking to the freeway. Oops again. I think the max speed was between 60kl/hr and 80kl/hr. Ill let you do the math. Lets just say Jen didn't make it to work that night :( we didn't make in home until 10pm Surprisingly We were allowed back into the US without any trouble even with our lack of ID! Canada is expensive! Especially because our dollar sucks these days the exchange rate was something like .93 on the dollar and things in Canada are not cheap! At McDonald's our value meals cost almost $9.00 Canadian! So lets just say we dropped over a grand in 24 hours. I will officially call this trip National Lampoon/Larsons trip to Canada.

A March Of Success and Our First "Say Back"
Yesterday while getting in the car to take Dr. J Russell Puppy to the dog park (big upset because it was "Closed Until Spring" when we got there, hasn't it been spring for over a month now? The park ranger must be related to Mother Nature) Mick lifted Kyan into his car seat, not sure if he bumped his leg or what but the little man whipped out a "Damn It!" Mick and my eyes meet and whheeewww we both played it off pretty well. However you know who gets in trouble for this right? Now I am totally against fowel language in front of children but stuff does just naturally slip sometimes you know! Note to self....try harder to say darn it....darn it....darn it ....darn it!
Kyan demonstrated other independence besides a potty mouth today too. I took the boys on a shopping trip to Ikea today. I reved up Mr. Kyan for the "Check in" indoor playground they have there. Usually this kid would freak at the thought of me leaving him in a public place with total strangers. Can you believe he let me leave him for 25 min? Yaayyyyy good for him, maybe next time I can get the whole 60 min!
Mr. Pie is doing great, minus his live in snotty nose and goopy eye! He still has no intention on walking in the near future and frankly I'm not ready for him to either! His latest is screaming DDDDOOOOOO (doc without the C sound) at the top of his lungs, calling for Doc. For all of you who don't know, that was Kyans first word! I think we will be calling it Pie's 4nd Knowledgeable word, next to BBAA BBAA (with an added waving gesture) as his first of Ba Bye, and Dada and Mama (no order noted on the last 2 lol! Until next time...........keep on cawling Pie!

More ear aches :(
Another messy shot of Pie at his party.
Kyan and KianaWe were back in the Dr. office today with Kyan. Again, he hasn't been hearing us lately and talking at max volume. Turns out, bilateral ear infections again:( So we were put on another 10 day course of abx's. The Doc said that if he isn't cleared up in 2 weeks we will go see and otolaryntologists who would most likely suggest tubes. Both Mickey and I had this when we were younger, in fact I had them placed mult. times. More than likely Kyans ears will be cleared up after the abx and we be able to put this behind us untill next school year when he again drags home every virus known to man kind! That's when the pediatrician said it would most likely happen. Kyan handles the ear aches pretty well, he did wake up the other night and said his Rt. ear hurt but other than that never complains. His hearing is terrible and he's always saying, "huh?" it drives me nuts! "huh?" I cant stand repeating myself over and over. I can now understand why my own mom is so bad with this! She too probably was sick of me always saying "huh?" (is this why mom???? LOL) We are now into the final week of studying before Mick's exams next week!!! YYAAAYYY. We are really pushin' for some A's this semester so everybody cross your fingers for him!!! The weather is really turning towards summer here! We had temps in the 70's today, it was beautiful. Kyan is so excited, his 4 wheeler that has been out of order for the last month since we broke it out of the shed is up and running! Turns out it just needed some fresh battery juice. He rode it all night tonight!

Happy 1st Birthday Nolan David!!! (hope your taxes are done)

er and then a cruise around the block in Nolan's new "early life crisis" red convertable step two push buggy (he loves that thing) were the highlights of today. Oh and he got one more present in the mail, "Thanks Auntie Becky!!!" I love, I mean Nolan loves the red and white sailor outfit!!!! Nolan
got cake again too. "So you drank a 12 pack last night huh? Oh yeah, well I ate two cakes in the last 3 days!....proof our little man can really party!!!!) He had his pics taken with his own mini c
ake. The poor guy was exauhsted, not to mention a sweaty mess when we got there, (good going Jen, what were you thinking putting a winter had on him for the ride there?!!!) So please if he looks a bit greasy, it's my fault:( I think the photographers thought I was off the deep end when I took his hat off and it looked like he just went swimming. I tried to blow on it to dry it off! Yeah I looked like and ass, oh well. He sure was a bit more reserved today with his cake than on Sunday, maybe he thought he was greasy enough! . I bought
way too many pictures and spent way too much money but they turned out really cute. The studio also gives you a CD of everthing they took so that was cool. They took over 100 shots, I think he smiled maybe 5 times. The little stinker just wouldn't smile, it took a lot on the photographers end. I thought his lack of cooperation would get me out of there with more money in my pocket but .......well not the case :( Ok well enjoy the posted pics, my head is pounding from this killer cold I've had for a few days now ....gonna get some zzzzz's.

Pie Meets Cake
We had Nolan's first birthday party today! I can't believe our baby is one already. Grandma Debbie came along with Auntie Wind and Kiana. Auntie Amy also came from GR and we also had the fabulous fashionably late Escadrama Bennie Hanna make an appearance! (knew you'd love the extended nickname for this blog Bennie!) Kyan's third birthday was celebrated with a few people and it was my favorite party ever. This is why I decided to do the same with Pie's 1st. I just enjoy it more, I get to focus on my kid instead of the guests! Wind....had to make me feel bad, "You know you brought Kyan to San Diego and Sea World for his 1st right? And then had a Big Party when we got home, I think you bought 6 dozen Balloons" Ok Wind, after Mick is done with law school, we are taken Pie on a fabulous Birthday party extravaganza!!! Lets just say Nolan joining the world during daddy's exam week wasn't convenient! So watch out Birthday Party number 3 your gonna be outta this world! We did however have a lot of fun today. Nolan was in a great mood, as always I guess but today he just seemed so happy. He enjoyed opening his gifts, and did surprisingly well with it! As you can see from the video, he loved his cake. Is that a baby smurf? Where's Pie? We took out Kyan's first Cake pics and the winner.....Pie clearly walked away with the "messiest cake eater" award!!! He will officially turn 1 on Tuesday. We officially need to get his hair cut then! (my rule....not until after one.)
